Finite Element Method (FEM) computer simulation provides broad opportunities for conducting research in metal forming. Computer simulation can predict forming features, tool behaviour, billet or tool temperature, possible fracture of the billet or can create models for chain metallurgical processes. The lecture presents an overview of the most popular FEM simulation software which is applied for metal forming processes investigation. The speaker will discuss the main trends in the FEM computer simulation application for metal forming processes, possible prospects and provide examples of how computer simulation was effectively used for different metal forming processes.
